Color and forensics applications and references

Color is a key quality parameter in numerous products, from printed publications and interior materials, like floor tiles, to car parts as well as displays and various light sources, like LEDs. Spectral color measurement provides significantly better precision than traditional RGB color measurement. Push-broom hyperspectral imaging makes it possible to quickly scan total samples for precise color mapping, and apply spectral color inspection and sorting simultaneously in multiple points as well as across a full process line.

SPECIM’s imaging spectrographs and spectral cameras in VIS and VNIR range are being used by world leading companies, like Canon and Seico, and research institutes and other organizations, like University of Joensuu (Finland), and FBI (USA) for applications requiring precise color measurement, inspection and sorting.

Instituto di Fisica Applicata in Florence, Italy, uses SPECIM’s imaging spectrograph in a hyperspectral scanner to investigate and archive spectral maps of old work of art. The research is part of projects for preserving and maintaining the invaluable Italian cultural heritage.
