We are proud to announce that SPECIM in cooperation with Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) has successfully handed over the results of an Imaging Spectral Signature Instrument (ISSI) development project to the European Space Agency (ESA). SPECIM's input to the project was the optical design and manufacturing of the imaging spectrograph modules for the instrument. VTT was responsible for the system design consisting of electronics, supporting mechanics and software. Potential applications for this type of instrument are airborne or spaceborne remote sensing of the Earth by means of thematic mapping of the environment. There are also industrial real time applications where this concept is beneficial.

SPECIM has been rewarded with acknowledgement from successful participation on the project, as well as thanks from the ESA technical officer Mr. Bernd Harnisch. The ISSI project started in May, 2006 resulting now to the delivery of the ISSI instrument breadboard.
