Hyperspectral imaging is increasingly applied for sorting, quality control, and recycling applications. In the setup, the hyperspectral camera is placed over a sorting line to measure all the items as they move through.
Hyperspectral is ideal for sorting of agricultural products, raw materials, food ingredients, recycled items etc. For example, parameters such as moisture, sugar, starch, fat and protein content can be measured to define the maturity or processability of agricultural products, ingredients or other food products.
Advanced Specim MWIR imagers can be utilized even in black plastic sorting – application very tricky with traditional analytical techniques.
