Specim’s hyperspectral technology is being applied by the FBI and several other police forces in numerous forensic analyses.

Hyperspectral imagery is an invaluable tool for example in questioned document analysis, fingerprint enhancement, bloodstain age analysis and visualization on dark substrates, arson investigation, and fiber comparison. For example, most latent fingerprints cannot be seen with the naked eye and often are only a fragment of a full fingerprint. With no sample preparation nor touching the material examined, hyperspectral methods convert an invisible print to a visible one that can be viewed and matched against databases.
